Theme Leader: Dr. Nikoo Saber
Our simulation research revolves around 2 core themes:
Predictive anatomy models
Effective training materials requires accurate and realistic virtual organs that recreate key properties such as soft tissue deformation and blood flow modeling. Our work involves development of real-time models that can be used for training and intra-operation procedures. With all real-time processing, we are addressing the challenges associated with meshing, time-steps and validation against clinical data.
Virtual reality based models for training and operations
To increase the accessibility and improve the surgical training curriculum, we are developing an immersive virtual environment for diagnostic and interventional procedures. Residents and surgeons would be able to manipulate the virtual organ models in a natural fashion with haptic feedback and stereoscopic views.
